Adsorbents and membranes consisting of carbon nanotube (CNT) pores with diameters of molecular dimensions are highly desirable for hydrogen storage and selective, high-flux membrane separation. However, fabrication of such materials with precise pore sizes and monodispersity as well as evaluation of the mechanisms associated to adsorption and molecular transport are challenging. Herein, we grew aluminophsphate zeolites (CoAPO-5, AFI crystal structure) consisting of one-dimensional, monodisperse parallel pores with diameter of ~7 Å, and utilized them as templates to grow singe-walled CNTs (SWNTs) inside the pores. The resulting materials were examined as adsorbents and membranes for hydrogen storage and separation, respectively, using single-gas and real mixture feeds. Detailed mechanistic analysis and fundamental investigation of permeance and adsorption behavior of the resulting CNT-in-zeolite systems via combined adsorption, equilibrium, and kinetic studies were carried out. A superior gravimetric hydrogen uptake of 1.2 wt% at 35 °C and 1 bar was achieved in the case of the SWNTs grown in the cobalt-richer AFI host. Permeability measurements were performed on the respective Co(x)APO@SWNT membranes with the Co-richAPO@SWNT membrane exhibiting the highest permeance for all studied gases as a consequence of larger and more densely packed AFI crystals along with higher number of SWNT-filled pores, assets attributed to the higher Co catalyst content. Notably, the produced composite membranes exhibited gas permeability values that were two orders of magnitude higher than what predicted by the Knudsen mechanism. 相似文献

In the present study, a prebiotic acerola juice containing gluco-oligosaccharides and dextran was produced and processed by high-intensity ultrasound (HIUS). After a simulated in vitro digestion, the gluco-oligosaccharides and dextran maintained 90% and 80% of their initial concentration in all prebiotic’s juices. At the same time, Vitamin C and phenolic compounds concentration increased significantly by 19% and 7% (P < 0.05). After the in vitro digestion, the prebiotic juice HIUS processed by 10 min showed the highest increase in gluco-oligosaccharides and bioactive compound concentrations. The HIUS processing imparted some dextran hydrolysis and improved its fermentability by Lacticaseibacillus casei. Gluco-oligosaccharides were extensively consumed as substrate in simulated intestinal conditions, promoting the L. casei NRRL B-442 growth and production of organic acids and short-chain organic acids. The prebiotic juice HIUS processed for 6 min showed the best responses regarding the metabolism of L. casei NRRL B-442. A novel method of hydrofluidisation food freezing is numerically investigated in this paper. This technique is based on freezing small food products in a liquid medium under highly turbulent flow conditions when the heat transfer coefficient is higher than 1 000 W⋅m−2⋅K−1, which depends on the operating and flow conditions. A numerical model was developed to characterise the freezing process in terms of the heat transfer and diffusion of liquid solution components into the food product. The study investigates the freezing process of spherical samples in binary solutions of ethanol (30%) and glycerol (40%) and ternary solution of ethanol and glucose (15%/25%). The developed model was employed to determine the concentration of the liquid solution in food samples and to quantify the effect of sample size, heat transfer coefficient, solution temperature and concentration on the process. The food sample size varied from 5 to 30 mm, and the heat transfer coefficients varied from 1 000 to 4 000 W⋅ m−2⋅ K−1. The results confirm that a freezing time of 15 min for 30 mm diameter samples or less than 1 min for 5 mm diameter samples can be achieved with the hydrofluidisation method. The solution uptake was influenced by the solution type, sample size and process parameters and varied from 8.9 to 35 g of solute per kg of product for ethanol-glucose and glycerol solutions, respectively. In recent work, pure α-Fe2O3 (F-1) and series of 5% Cu doped Fe2O3 (CF-5) , 10% Cu doped Fe2O3 (CF-10) and 15% Cu doped Fe2O3 (CF-15) nanoparticles by facile chemical coprecipitation method were synthesized to study the effect of concentration of doping for photocatalytic activity. As prepared F-1, CF-5, CF-10, CF-15 nanoparticles were subjected to X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infra-red (FTIR) techniques to analyse the structural and functional groups features. These characterization techniques confirmed the successful doping of Cu 2+ ions in α-Fe2O3. The crystallite size of synthesized samples was calculated by Scherrer formula. Gradually decline in crystallite size from 18 to 15 nm was observed for undoped to doped samples. Scanning electron microscopic (SEM) analysis expressed that doping of Cu reduced the aggregation of particles and enhanced the surface area of nanoparticles. UV–Visible spectroscopic analysis of synthesized samples was used to calculate the bandgap energy of F-1, CF-5, CF-10, CF-15 nanoparticles i.e., 2.0, 1.7, 1.5, 1.4eV respectively. Narrowing bandgap energy of doped hematite supported to perform excellent photocatalytic activity. Maximum degradation of methylene blue was recorded via CF-10 within 140 min. Higher degradation rate of methylene blue by optimal concentration of CF-10 is due to effective electron trapping ability of photocatalyst. 相似文献

The Simplistic formation, advantageous configuration, non-colossal magnetoresistance and broadband absorption are important parameters for microwave absorbent materials. In this study, a core-shell nanocomposite comprising of Sn-filled carbon nanotubes (Sn/CNTs) was prepared by arc discharge method. The microstructure, morphology and surface composition of Sn/CNTs-based core-shell nanocomposites were characterized in detail. Sn/CNTs nanocomposite showed a magnetic signal due to the broken bonds and defects at interfaces in Sn/CNTs. The weak ferromagnetism was found to be helpful in improving magnetic permeability in the Sn/CNTs which confirms its role as a magnetic loss material under incident electromagnetic wave. Sn-filled CNTs revealed an appropriate value of dielectric constant, which plays an important role in impedance matching upon incident electromagnetic wave. The composite of Sn-CNTs and paraffin with a 50 wt % loading showed the lowest reflection loss (RL) of ?43.87 dB at 10 GHz, with a wide effective absorption band (RL ≤ ?10 dB) of 3 GHz in thickness of 2.3 mm. This enhanced performance is attributed to the combined effect of the conduction loss in one-dimensional core-shell architecture, the interfacial loss Sn-CNT interface, the magnetic loss due to defects-induced ferromagnetism in Sn shell, and in the carbon-containing atomic layers of CNTs. 相似文献

In this paper, a new kinetic model considering both oxidation and volatilization kinetics is established and applied to analyze the oxidation of SiC-B4C-xAl2O3 ceramics and other systems in various oxidation conditions. The effects of diffusion area and volume changes during the oxidation process are considered in this model. The physical meaning of each parameter in this model is explicit and simple. According to this model, the diffusion coefficient of species and the corresponding diffusion activation energy are easily available. The practicability of this model is well verified by the experimental data of SiC-B4C-xAl2O3 and other systems oxidized under different conditions. In addition, the practice shows that the model is applicable not only to the systems where oxidation and volatilization coexist, but also to the system where only oxidation plays a major role. We hope the model proposed in this work can be used in other materials with more complex environments. 相似文献
